Technical Overview of AI Ghost Writer

AI Ghost Writer is an Intellic Labs product that lets anyone become a published author. It is built for two audiences: experts who want a book that establishes their authority, and storytellers who have a novel in them but not the months it takes to write one. Either way, the author supplies the idea and the judgement; the platform supplies the writing, the structure and the production work. Most books are complete, with a cover, in well under an hour.

The author’s journey is a seven-step wizard: choose fiction or non-fiction, shape the topic with an AI chat assistant, review a complete chapter-by-chapter outline, pick from a list of generated titles, choose a cover, optionally upload writing samples so the book sounds like them, and add a dedication. Each step is point-and-click, autosaves, and includes a guided tour, so no writing experience is required. Non-fiction authors can attach research documents that are woven into the relevant sections.

Once the outline is approved, a background writing engine drafts the manuscript section by section while the author watches chapters tick off on a live progress page, or walks away and receives a text message when the book is ready. The engine keeps a running story bible of characters, places, plot threads and timeline so that a 100,000-word novel stays consistent from the first chapter to the last. A separate cover pipeline designs an art-directed cover from the finished book’s themes, and the author can generate more in alternative styles in Cover Studio.

The finished book opens in the AI Book Editor, a full-screen workspace with the chapter list on the left, the manuscript in the centre and an AI panel on the right. The editor chat knows the whole book and can rewrite a passage, strengthen a scene, find plot holes or suggest what to work on next, with every change reviewed word by word before it is applied. The feature that stops people in their tracks is character chat: an author can text any character in their novel, ask how they feel about another character or what they are hiding, and get an answer in that character’s voice grounded in everything the story has established.

Underlying Technology

1. AI layer: a routing layer sends each task to the most suitable large language model, with frontier models for manuscript drafting and editing, streaming models for chat, and dedicated image models for covers and character portraits. A judged benchmark harness compares outputs on the same source book before any change to the writing or cover pipelines ships.
2. Interface: a Django web application with a conversion-focused marketing site, a step-by-step wizard, and a rich-text editor workspace that streams AI replies token by token. Responsive layouts keep the wizard usable on phones.
3. Data security and privacy: every book, bible and chat thread is scoped to its owner; uploaded writing samples and research files are used only for that author’s book; usage is metered with rolling allowances rather than surprise charges; payments are handled by Stripe and no card data touches the application.
4. Scalability and infrastructure: background daemons for outlines, titles, manuscripts, covers and email run independently of the web tier, so long-running jobs never block the interface; PostgreSQL storage, cloud object storage for files and images, per-book cost accounting, and a watchdog on every daemon.
5. Growth tooling: built-in A/B testing of the marketing site, attribution tracking, a blog, follow-up email and SMS sequences, and a payment-plan system with dunning.
